In Caorle, the sea, beach, sports, events and traditional happenings all present opportunities for entertainment and relaxation. Every place and every occasion is a chance to have a great time.
In the daytime, those who do not choose to relax quietly under their umbrellas on the beach with a magazine or a book can take part in a wide selection of sports, including windsurfing, sailing, swimming, beach volleyball and bocce. Fun for youngsters is guaranteed thanks to the free entertainment teams and the safe, colourful play areas that are dotted across the beach.
If you want to stay in shape and admire the natural landscape on the coast and inland, there are a number of cycle routes starting in Caorle, with levels of difficulty ranging from “relaxing” to “challenging”. Depending on the routes that you choose, you may come across farmland, small villages, rivers, canals, pine groves and lagoons. There is a whole world waiting to be discovered and appreciated. A variety of motorboats and other craft depart from the fishing port on trips that will take you all around the lagoon, stopping off for some fish to eat in the traditional fishermen’s homes known as Casoni.
Fans of aquatic activities will love one of Caorle’s biggest attractions: Aquafollie, a water park with huge slides and a great entertainment service for young and old alike.
In the evening, the classic Luna Park fairground is the ideal place for families. The rides and attractions will keep both parents and children amused for hours on end.
People flock from all over the resort to the old town centre every evening to take a look in the windows of its wide array of shops and have dinner or simply enjoy a delicious ice cream, a refreshing drink or a glass of fine wine in the restaurants, trattorias, pubs and bars. Numerous activities and events are organized by the town council and local associations to brighten up the summer evenings, such as concerts, theatrical shows and street performances.
Young people and anyone else who wants to dance and listen to music can head to the many clubs, pubs and kiosks on the beach, where the fun goes on from sunset until the first light of dawn.
“FluSSidiversi” is an initiative organized by the town council that takes place in Caorle every year. During a series of encounters, poets present verses and poems in the squares of Caorle, on the wharfs of the fishing port and on the seafront.
“Scogliera Viva” is a unique, well-established biennial event that has seen the participation of many internationally renowned sculptors over the years. They sculpt original works out of the blocks of Euganean trachyte in the town’s sea defences. With every event, the rocks that can be seen from the seafront promenade are enriched even more.
On the first weekend of September every year, Caorle hosts “La Luna nel Pozzo”, an international street theatre festival featuring dozens of individual actors and theatre groups from the different regions of Italy and all over Europe. The town becomes a stage as the artists entertain the public.
Caorle is famous for its association with the Virgin of the Angels, to whom the marvellous Sanctuary of the Madonna dell’Angelo on the promenade is dedicated. Every five years, a procession is organized on the sea and the streets to give thanks to the Blessed Virgin. Huge numbers of tourists always flock to the town from all over Europe for the event.
