Bibione Beach Volley Marathon will be back in the famous Veneto beach resort this year, first from 15 to 17 May and then from 18 to 20 September to mark the end of the season. Get ready for two exciting long weekends full of sport and fun!
Lots of sport to promote healthy bodies, minds and competition
With more than 25,000 participants, 3,000 teams and 250 courts, Bibione Beach Volley Marathon is one of the biggest events in the international sporting calendar. American website flovolleyball.tv included it in a list of 16 unmissable beach volleyball tournaments all over the world. This is reflected in its increasingly international nature: in recent years, participants have arrived not just from Italy and other European countries, but also from the USA, Australia, China, Russia and Japan. At the same time, the standard keeps getting higher and the event has attracted players of the calibre of Russia’s Ivan Zaytsev and Italy’s Giulia Toti and Jessica Allegretti.
The most significant of the many new developments this year is the addition of a new Mixed 2×2 category to go with the existing Men’s 2×2, Women’s 2×2, Men’s 3×3, Women’s 3×3 and Mixed 4×4 options. The total prize fund has also increased this year and it now stands at €108,000.
It’s a stunning sight for everyone to see Bibione’s vast expanse of sand covered with 250 beach volleyball courts and enormous crowds of young players and fans.
For both “athletes” and “non-athletes” who want to have fun playing with their friends, the pass included with the entrance fee for the Bibione Beach Volley Marathon courts can also be used to gain entry to the two “Spritz Parties on the Beach” on the Friday and Saturday nights, as well as for the shuttle bus to and from the parties, and entrance into night clubs on the Friday and Saturday. Furthermore, holders can get discounts on use of the beach facilities and in pizzerias, bars and spa pools.
Enjoy the sport and then unwind
There’s more than just sport on offer at the Mizuno tournament. It’s a great opportunity for huge numbers of young people from all over the world to meet up and have fun while getting some healthy exercise. A number of parties take place alongside the tournaments so that all of the players and the huge crowds of fans can take a well-deserved break and let their hair down.
More than 20,000 people are expected to attend the unmissable Aperol Spritz Parties on the Friday and Saturday nights. A new addition this year is a terrace with views of the central stage where partygoers can go wild to the sound of famous international DJs.
Another fresh initiative is “Priority” tickets for guests who want to skip the queues to get into the parties. In keeping with the green approach that the resort has taken for many years, all of the cups used will be environmentally friendly, thus driving home the message among the young participants that is it necessary to be increasingly plastic-free.
The last of the new ideas to be introduced at Mizuno Beach Volley Marathon 2020 is an unmissable welcome party from 10.00 pm until midnight on the Thursday night. There’ll be live music and a great time is guaranteed in one of the coolest spots in town.
* Due to the Coronavirus Covid-19 emergency, the May edition of this year is suspended. The appointment for the dates of 18-19-20 September remains valid.
